poems on a body and its form unfolds as a dialogue. A collection of poems and notations corresponds with the pictures on the walls. There is a poem to every picture and an image to every note.
In September and October 2024 Susanna Melem and Chili Tomasson participated in an artist in residency program provided by the Budapest Galéria in cooperation with Land Salzburg.
During their stay in Budapest, and as a part of the residency program, Susanna Melem and Chili Tomasson tried to capture the steady pulse of the city;
its squares, sidewalks and underground stations.
They took photographs of walls and water in order to preserve the surface.
They made sound recordings of the traffic and subterranean music in order to remember how it felt.
They listened to passengers talking to each other on the tramway and city bus, they talked to employees in supermarkets, they engaged in conversations with customers in all night-bars, they overheard the reminiscences of dog owners in parks and retired engineers in cafés.
They took notes and collected stories.
They assembled the perspectives of people on their past, their present and their future.
Over the last three months all this material was transformed into several poems, visual art and sound.
